Transport Down Under: a change of direction

Brisban hosted the Commonwealth Games in 1982 and the approach of Exo'88 led to a more proactive transport policy.

The result has been the progressive development of integrated public transport and investment in facilities such as an underground air-conditioned city centre bus station beneath the pedestrianised Queens Street Mall.

The bus station can be reached from within the shopping center to the right of photo and directly from the pedestrianised Queen Street Mall.

It provides a quality of transport safety and practicality only offered in the U.K. by the recently completed Jubilee Line underground extension.
The opportunity to wait in air-conditioned comfort during summer temperatures of 30celsius plus increases both the attraction and practicality of public transport.
